Pullulan
Overview
Pullulan is natural water-soluble polysaccharide, produced from starch or sugar by fermentation. It is colorless, tasteless, odorless, resistant to oil and unaffected by small thermal variations. It has many applications, such as it¡¯s usage in medicine, food, and cosmetics industries.
In medicinal applications, pullulan can be formed into capsules, tablets, non-crystalline substances, plasma, vaccine and wound sutures.
Pullulan plays a role as a preservative, quality improver, emulsifier, forming and thickening agent in the food industry.
Pullulan has an additional application in the health food sector: since the human body can only digest one-third of the glucose formed by pullulan, the leftover two-thirds are formed into isomaltose that cannot be digested and absorbed. Isomaltose stimulates the growth of bifidobacterium. Bifidobacterium is a micro-bacterium that is beneficial to the digestive system by: synthesizing the organic acids a body needs, lowering the intestinal pH and inhibiting the growth of other harmful micro-organisms.
In cosmetic applications, pullulan can be formed into shampoo, lotion, and facial masks.
Manufacturing
The manufacturing facility covers 3,000 square meters plant, and a 1,500 square meters warehouse. The annual production for pullulan is 100 tons
